Our Story
Blue Bear & Co. was created in memory of my son, Charlie. After losing him, I searched endlessly for a teddy precious enough to hold a voice recording of Charlie, a heartbeat and a scent he loved. Nothing I found offered all of these things together and nothing felt special enough for what it needed to hold.
So, despite having never sewn before, I decided to make one myself. I learned through YouTube videos, stitched together my very first bear and filled it with Charlie’s voice, a heartbeat and a scented plush heart. The sense of comfort and connection it brought was immediate, not just for me, but for Charlie’s siblings too.
In that moment, I realised how powerful a bear can be when it becomes more than a toy, it becomes a source of meaning, grounding and emotional support. As an Accredited Registered MBACP Therapist, I have since woven this wellbeing element into everything we create, ensuring each bear offers connection and comfort in the gentlest, most meaningful way.
From this experience grew a desire to create something others could also treasure, a unique, luxury bear that families can customise in the comfort of their own homes. Bears which feature in thoughtful stories, relatable for both children and adults. Beautifully presented and lovingly made, each bear is crafted with purpose and meaning.
The name Blue Bear & Co. and our slogan ‘Bears for Life’ were inspired by Charlie’s beloved ‘Blue Bear,’ the little companion that went everywhere with him and remains a cherished part of our family. From that foundation, our collection began to grow: Brown Bear, Light Blue Bear and Dark Blue Bear soon followed.
Although born from grief, Blue Bear & Co. exists to bring joy, warmth and hope into homes. These bears are for everyone and every moment: a gift for yourself, a meaningful gesture for someone you love, a keepsake for life’s biggest memories, or simply a companion that feels like home.
