The Bears for Life Partnership

Together, We’re Bringing Comfort To Families Who Need It Most.

Bears donated so far: 150

When I created Blue Bear & Co, I never imagined how many people would choose to stand beside us on this journey. What started as a way to honour our son Charlie and create something meaningful from unimaginable heartbreak has grown into a mission supported by businesses, healthcare professionals, fundraisers, friends and complete strangers who simply want to make a difference.

Every Blue Bear & Co bear is created with comfort, connection and memories at its heart. Whether holding a loved one’s voice, scent, heartbeat or treasured keepsake, each bear becomes so much more than a teddy bear. It becomes something to hold onto when words simply aren’t enough.

Today, our Sponsor A Bear programme helping us place bears into the hands of children and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

The Impact So Far
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, more than 150 bears have been funded and gifted to families across the UK.
These bears have reached bereavement services, children’s hospices and support organisations including:

  • Derian House Children’s Hospice – 22 bears

  • East Lancashire Hospice – 5 bears

  • Acorns Children’s Hospice – 6 bears

  • Claire House Children’s Hospice – 6 bears

  • The Alder Centre at Alder Hey – 6 bears

  • Sibling Support – 5 bears

  • St John’s Hospice – 11 bears

  • St Catherine’s Hospice – 6 bears

Every bear represents a family.
A story.
A memory.
A reminder that they are not alone.

One particularly special story came from East Lancashire Hospice, where nurse Elaine was so moved by the impact of the bears that she organised her own fundraiser, raising enough money to provide a further 25 bears for families receiving bereavement support.

“I decided to run the Manchester half marathon to raise money for Blue Bear & Co after being so moved by what Nici has created. To turn such a difficult time in her life to something so positive for others is incredible. There are families up and down the country who need comfort and support during the darkest times. When I read more about Blue Bear & Co I was inspired to do what I can to help. My fundraising has hopefully meant a few families are able to have a bear that can be with them and offer comfort. I know the patients our dental practice who saw what I was doing were all touched by what Blue Bear & Co does. I would encourage anyone to push themselves to fundraise if they wish to support. I had great fun and raised funds along the way”

Why Businesses Choose To Partner With Us

The reason businesses support Blue Bear & Co is simple. They understand the power of comfort.

Sarah Murphy from Anti-Ageing Aesthetics shared:
“My decision to support Blue Bear & Co wasn’t a business decision. It was a decision from the heart.”

Andy Graham from Shift It said:
“Nothing can take away the pain or heartbreak, but we hope the Sponsor A Bear mission provides some small comfort.”

The team at Harrison Engineering explained:
“The idea of providing something as simple as a bear to bring comfort during incredibly difficult moments really resonated with us.”

Kate Holden chose to run the Manchester Half Marathon on behalf of Sharoe Green Dental Practice, after being inspired by Charlie’s story and the mission behind Blue Bear & Co:
“To turn such a difficult time into something so positive for others is incredible.”

Individual sponsor Lynton Connolly shared:
“It makes me happy knowing I can help people who are going through the worst time of their lives.”

These words remind us that this mission belongs to a community of people who care.

Fund a Bear & create lasting memories

When I completed a skydive fundraiser, I hoped to raise enough money to provide a handful of our Brown Bears to children and families facing difficult times.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of those who supported me, we were able to donate more than 20 bears to hospices, hospitals and bereavement services.

Each bear was placed into the hands of a child or family experiencing grief, loss or end-of-life care. A small gesture, perhaps, but one that can provide comfort, connection and reassurance when words simply aren’t enough.

The success of this fundraiser showed me that anyone can make a difference.

Whether you’re taking on a personal challenge, organising a workplace fundraiser, hosting a bake sale or bringing your community together, your fundraising can directly provide Brown Bears to children and families when they need them most.

Unlike many fundraising initiatives, you can see exactly where your support goes. Every pound raised helps fund bears that are gifted through hospices, hospitals and bereavement services, creating lasting comfort for families during life’s toughest moments.

Already Making an impact

We are proud to already be working alongside Derian House Children’s Hospice, where businesses are funding bears to be gifted to families in their care.

We also support East Lancashire Hospice, who have already introduced our bears through their own fundraising efforts, showing just how meaningful this support can be for families.

With businesses including PM + M Solutions and more partnerships in progress, this is just the beginning.

Looking Ahead

Every bear gifted represents love.

A parent’s love.

A grandparent’s love.

A sibling’s love.

A love that continues long after someone has gone.

While nothing can take away grief, our hope is that these bears provide comfort, connection and a tangible reminder that precious memories live on.

To every business, fundraiser, supporter and sponsor who has helped us reach this point, thank you.
