It Was Never Just About a Bear 🤍

Losing Charlie Changed Everything

There are moments in life that change you forever.

For me, everything shifted after losing Charlie.

In the, weeks, months and years that followed, I felt this overwhelming need to create something…something that could offer even a small amount of the comfort we so desperately needed. I didn’t have a plan, or any experience in what I was about to do.

In fact, my husband genuinely thought I was having a breakdown when I walked into a local textile shop and bought armfuls of fabric, despite never having sewn before.

But within a day, I had made a teddy.

It didn’t have any eyes. It didn’t have a nose.

But to me, it was perfect.

Because it wasn’t just a teddy, it was something to hold onto.

When You Know You Know

What started as that moment has grown into Blue Bear & Co. but the truth is, it was never just about creating a product.

It was about creating connection.

Comfort.

Something that could be there when words aren’t enough.

Over time, those bears became more than I ever imagined. With heartbeats, voice recordings and scent, they’ve become deeply personal to the families who receive them.

But one of the things people don’t always see is the emotion behind so many of those moments. Our bears are often given during incredibly difficult times; seperation, grief, illness, uncertainty.

I know the impact they have.

Because I’ve seen it. I’ve felt it.

And until you hold one, it’s hard to fully explain.

When you know, you know.

The Blue Bear & Co. Journey

Over the past year, Blue Bear & Co. has continued to grow in ways I never expected.

From connecting with people through social media, to attending events like Spring Fair and Autumn Fair and even being recognised as an SBS winner, it’s opened doors and allowed more people to understand the “why” behind what we do.

But with that growth has come something even bigger.

A deeper sense of purpose.

We’ve started building a mission to work with local businesses to sponsor bears, so that hospices can provide them to families free of charge.

Because in those moments, when families are facing the unimaginable, cost should never be a barrier to comfort.

This is just the beginning.

The vision is to extend this across the UK, supporting not only hospices, but bereavement services and organisations helping children and siblings navigating grief and trauma.

To make sure that no child feels alone in those moments.

Love, Loss & Connection

When I look back, it’s hard to believe it all started with that one bear.

No eyes.

No nose.

But full of meaning.

And in many ways, that’s still what drives everything today.

Because this has never just been about a bear.

It’s about love.

Loss.

Connection.

And turning pain into something that can help others feel a little less alone.
