Blue Bear & Co.: A Legacy of Love, Loss, and Comfort

Nestled in the heart of Inskip, Lancashire, Blue Bear & Co. is more than just a teddy bear company; it’s a heartfelt tribute to a cherished child and a beacon of comfort for many.

The Heartbreaking Inspiration

The story begins with Charlie Robinson, a vibrant young boy who, at the tender age of two, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Throughout his battle, Charlie found solace in a light blue teddy bear, aptly named “Blue Bear,” which became his constant companion. Tragically, Charlie passed away at five, leaving an indelible mark on his family’s hearts.

In the wake of this profound loss, Charlie’s mother, Nicola “Nici” Robinson, sought a way to honor her son’s memory and provide comfort to others facing similar grief. This quest led to the creation of Blue Bear & Co., a company dedicated to crafting bespoke teddy bears that offer emotional support and connection.

Bears Crafted with Purpose

Blue Bear & Co. offers a range of meticulously designed teddy bears, each serving a unique purpose:

• Light Blue Bear: A 20cm bear reminiscent of Charlie’s original companion. Ten percent of the profits from this bear support the “Thumbs Up for Charlie” charity, established by Nici and her husband to assist families dealing with pediatric brain tumors.

• Brown Bear: Standing at 40cm, this bear is customizable with a heartbeat, a recorded message, and a scent-infused heart, providing a multi-sensory experience of comfort.

• Dark Blue Bear: Also 20cm, this bear offers the same luxurious feel as its counterparts and adds a touch of elegance with its deep blue hue.

A Community Embraces the Mission

Operating from a garden room, Blue Bear & Co. has garnered significant support from the local community and beyond. In April 2025, the company received a notable boost from entrepreneur Theo Paphitis through his “Small Business Sunday” initiative, amplifying their reach and impact.

Continuing Charlie’s Legacy

Blue Bear & Co. stands as a testament to a mother’s love and resilience. Through these bears, Nici Robinson ensures that Charlie’s spirit lives on, offering comfort to others and supporting vital charitable work.
